Pro City Kenner, 9.31

August 4, 2016 - The final day of regular season Nike DC Pro City Kenner League competition provided yet another opportunity to see talented professional and amateur basketball players go at it. Thickening the plot was the win-is-necessary status of some teams playing.

Following are rundowns of several players from Sunday. Hoya guys are expounded upon on Premium Court.

For today’s Pro City playoff quarterfinal schedule, click here.

Jonathan Mulmore – Hoop Magic, 6’3”, 175 pound junior guard, Georgetown – Likely had his best shooting day in Pro City Kenner work, scoring 20 points including a whopping five three pointers…(Premium Court).

Isaac Copeland – Hoop Magic, 6’9”, 215 pound junior forward, Georgetown – Poured in 19 points, doing what he does…(Premium Court)

Tre Kelley – On Point, 6’1”, 170 pound international pro point guard – A long time Pro City Kenner star, Kelley again demonstrated he’s a handful for any guard to deal with; Tre still gets buckets with the best of them.

Played in both the D-League and Turkey last season. Expect him to head overseas this fall.

Jagan Mosely - Tombs, 6'3, 200 pound freshman guard, Georgetown - Played his best Pro City Kenner game of the summer, finishing with 25 points. Was aggressive...(Premium Court)

Tyler Cavanaugh – On Point, 6’8”, 235 pound senior forward, GW – This guy has proven himself one of the league’s best bangers, one who can also step out to three point land and shoot. He’s a great asset.

Working on his face up/drive game will help further unlock Tyler’s game.

Tre Campbell – A Wash, 6’2”, 175 pound junior point guard, Georgetown – Campbell capped off his best two game Pro City Kenner spree this summer with 17 points. Played with energy…(Premium Court)

Kaleb Johnson – A Wash, 6’8”, 200 pound sophomore forward, Georgetown – Scored eight points, while also snagging a number of offensive rebounds…(Premium Court).

Folaran Campbell – A Wash, 6’4”, 200 pound guard, international pro – Played in Poland last year and is evaluating present international options. Former George Mason star can still shoot and compete. Scored 14 points.

Travis Hyman – A Wash, 6’10”, 240 pound center, international pro – Is mulling offers to play in Japan, Lebanon and Poland. Hyman is a low post player that can rebound, defend the rim and score around the cup. Dropped 14 points.

L.J. Peak – Clydes, 6’4”, 210 pound junior guard, Georgetown – Slashed, finished and competed, including playing good post defense against larger players…(Premium Court).

Jessie Govan – Clydes, 6’11”, 260 pound sophomore center, Georgetown – Clearly was working on driving and finishing left. Scored 16 points…(Premium Court).

D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera – Clydes, 6’4”, 210 pound guard – Hit his first shot on the way to 12 points. Still can let shots go effortlessly (For more on his play, see Premium Court).

Greg Whittington – Clydes, 6’8”, 200 pound forward, D-League pro – Shot well, played with effort. Also slashed. The former Hoya standout scored 13 points, including a key and one scenario in overtime.

As previously released on Premium Court, Whittington lost his father, Greg, Sr., days before the game, yet decided to play anyway. Comfort goes out to Whittington and his family.

Jabril Faulkner – Clydes, 6’7”, 190 pound forward, Canisus – Slashed and finished to 13 points. Scored 13 points. Was active throughout.

Has to play with more strength, particularly in post defense.

Zaird Hearst – DCX, 6’3”, 210 pound guard, international pro – Was aggressive in the post while also shooting solidly. Scrapped throughout. Scored seven points, but his impact was much greater.

Bradley Hayes – DCX, 7’0”, 260 pound senior center, Georgetown – In a 14 point output, scored on post up and stick backs. Didn’t play…(Premium Court)

Kevin Marfo – DCX, 6’8”, 240 pound freshman forward/center, GW – A brute down low, Marfo pounded the glass and finished well. Had a tremendous block of Govan’s shot. Scored eight points. Is physically strong/imposing.

Didn’t shoot outside of five feed from the cup. Needs to get a midrange game.

Mike Morsell – DCX, 6’5”, 205 pound junior guard, Towson – Did nothing to mar his excellent DC Pro City performance; Morsell shot and drove to 23 points. Is poised for a big year in the CAA.

Must continue his stop and pop work.
