Per reports, Ewing returns to Hilltop

A tumultuous week and a half has apparently come to an end, as Georgetown has reportedly chosen Patrick Ewing as its head coach. The former Hoya great and NBA Hall of Fame center, Ewing, 54, follows John Thompson III in that role (today's interview was revealed by HoyaReport.com).

Ewing becomes G’Town’s head guy after a 13 year National Basketball Association coaching career, a sojourn that doesn’t include head coaching experience. NBA stops were made in Washington, Houston, Orlando and Charlotte.

He’s had many supporters, including pro coaches, who testify to his bench leader ability. Ewing and others have been dismayed that a pro coaching gig was never afforded (he’s presently Charlotte’s associate head coach) in the 'L'.

The greatest player ever to don Blue and Grey, Ewing takes over a 14-18 team from last year, one that finished ninth (6-13) in the ten team BIG EAST. Retaining current players – only seven current Hoyas are scheduled to return next season – and bolstering the roster are certainly jobs 1a/1b for Ewing. So is strengthening the Hoya brand overall.

Add picking a staff, preferably a group that can help him rebuild the ‘G’ to immediate to-dos for Ewing. Who might he choose? See Premium Court for early chatter. Also there is a reveal into who helped the school navigate this hiring process and ample discussion.
