Hot rumor: Ewing to meet Hoyas

Could Pat Ewing victoriously return to G'Town?

Georgetown's search for a head coach has blossomed into national conjecture since firing John Thompson III over a week ago. Names have come and gone, with HoyaReport.com providing copious feedback, opinions gleaned from multiple people, both college coach/hoop business guys and otherwise.

What about the greatest player in program history, Patrick Ewing? Yes, that guy, the three time All-American, national champion, first NBA Pick, Rookie of the Year, NBA All-Star (11) among other achievements.

Charlotte's Hornets of the National Basketball Association presently boast Ewing as associate head coach. A pro bench figure at various positions for 13 years, Ewing has reportedly been told by NBA general managers he's not being tabbed for the lead role at that level, due to a lack of head coaching experience.

Based on recently garnered information/rumors, Ewing may have a possibility of checking that box; multiple sources indicate he may officially interview with Georgetown, tomorrow (Monday, 4.3.17). Always a candidate, Ewing seems to have enjoyed increased prominence in the school's search process.

Would this be the first time Ewing, 54, has had discussions with his alma mater about assuming Thompson's duties? Is he close to becoming G'Town's fourth coach since 1972? Is there a logistical benefit to Ewing possibly interviewing tomorrow?

See Premium Court for those answers, as well as the best coverage and discussion of Georgetown's coaching search process.
