Peak has chance for USA U19

June 2, 2015 - Just released today Georgetown sophomore guard/forward L.J. Peak has been invited to compete for a spot on this year's USA Basketball U19 team. That training camp occurs June 12 through 26th in Colorado, at the US Olympic Training Center.
The 24 man training camp roster will be whittled to 12 in time for the 2015 FIBA U19 Word Championship, held in Greece's city of Heraklion on that country's island of Crete. That competition takes place June 27th - July 5th.

Last season as a freshman Peak was a stalwart in head coach John Thompson III's starting rotation. A native of Gaffney, SC, Peak averaged 8.2 points and 2.3 rebounds over the course of 29 regular season games. Peak was also tabbed to the BIG EAST's All-Rookie team (along with classmate Isaac Copeland).
While he was an up and down outside shooter as a freshman, (38.6% from the field, 23% from beyond the arc), Peak consistently drove to the cup while also frequently guarding opponent's best perimeter player. His defense was consistently lauded by Thompson.
As relayed on the Premium Court message board, Peak has been working hard to improve his shooting from long distance and midrange, the latter insiders claimed last year he had but didn't show it much in games.
If Peak makes the USA U19 team, he should still participate in this year's Nike Pro City Kenner League, held in July and early August at Georgetown's McDonough Arena.
