Hoyas dial in, dispatch Bryant

November 28, 2015 - During the first half of Georgetown's home tilt with Bryant today, the Hoyas led by just two points with over eight and a quarter minutes remaining before halftime. A plucky Bryant group, one without leading scorer Hunter Ware at home due to the flu, managed to stay close to that point, trailing by no more than six.
Was another Radford game, one in which the Verizon Center loss at the hands of a mid-major program, afoot?

In a word, no. The Blue and Grey outscored their Bulldog foes 17-5 to close the half, eventually besting them 77-47 before 7,876 fans.
"I just think we decided to focus on defense, and get easy shots" said sophomore forward Isaac Copeland of his Hoyas' first stanza-closing run.
L.J. Peak scored 13 of his game high 20 points during the initial half, four during the aforementioned scoring spree. A sophomore G'Town swingman, Peak simply noted "I just had to pick my teammates up...We had to do something". The final stat sheet also attributed five rebounds and two steals to him.
Bryant shot 35.7% during the first half, 28.1% in second half action, including abysmal 18.2%/14.3% marks from beyond the arch. Those add up to 31.7% and 16% from the field and three point area, respectively.
The Bulldogs' head coach, Tim O'Shea, also lamented his team's charity stripe percentage of 33% (5-15), summing of their performance "I thought they competed hard for a majority of the game, but at the end of the day you have to make free throws and three point shots to be competitive in a game like this, and we weren't able to do that".
Freshman forward Marcel Pettway had a monster game for O'Shea et all, finishing with a team best 15 points and 12 rebounds, the latter number tying for game-high honors with G'Town frosh forward Marcus Derrickson. Senior point guard Shane McLaughlin joined Pettway in double figure points with 10 points.
Derrickson (12 points) was one of four Hoyas in double figure points - Copeland had 13 added to his contest pacing five assists, senior center Bradley Hayes with 10 points and Peak. Two others, junior forward Reggie Cameron and senior guard D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera scored nine points apiece.
The Hoyas, now 2-3 on the season tickled the twine overall at 43.3%, despite going 7-29 or 24.1% beyond the arc. Their 75%, charity stripe mark was respectable, and included nine more free throws attempted than Bryant.
Bryant (2-4) next travels to Durham in the Granite State, where New Hampshire will be faced. It's a 7p, Monday start.
Georgetown, coached by John Thompson III again takes Verizon Center's court soon, this time facing Maryland Eastern Shore on Tuesday. Action starts at 7p.
