The saga of Tyrell Ward's recruitment is set to finally close, tomorrow. A Class of 2022 swingman standout from DeMatha (MD), Ward owns a coveted five star designation from Rivals.com, in addition to being ranked 26th overall, nationally. As a one time Xavier commit, he decided not to attend that Cincinnati-domiciled school in mid-March after then head coach Travis Steele was fired.
During his second high school recruitment, Georgetown, LSU and Virginia Tech emerged as Ward's top three schools.
That the Hoyas are in the mix should surprise no one: Jordan Brooks, formerly Recruiting Director for Steele's Xavier crew and an assistant at several locations, was largely credited with Ward's initial matriculation to Xavier. Brooks has since been retained by Georgetown, providing the Hoyas with a pathway to secure Ward's services.
To be clear, their relationship has existed for years - Ward was coached by Brooks for travel team juggernaut Team Durant. This occurred while Tyrell was in the seventh/eighth grades.
Below is the decision date set by Ward.
