Head Coach Keith Brown announces his two additions

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Head Women's Basketball Coach Keith Brown announced two additions to his staff on Wednesday afternoon. Tim Valentine and Krystal Reeves-Evans will join Kenya Kirkland as assistants with the Hoyas. The two hires round out Brown's staff after he was promoted to head coach earlier this month.
"I'm extremely excited to be bringing in Tim and Krystal," said Brown. "They both have a wealth of experience and they will help us continue to be successful."
Tim Valentine comes to Georgetown from Elon University where he spent one season with the Phoenix as an assistant coach. He will concentrate on player development, game preparation as well as working with the sports performance staff.
"Tim has a great knowledge of the game and he has experience working with pro players, both men and women," said Brown. "He brings the skill development that we need for our players."
Last season, Elon went 16-14 with a mark of 12-8 in Southern Conference play. The squad had a pair of all-conference performers and five all-academic honorees.
Prior to his time at Elon, Valentine was the top assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at St. Augustine's College in Raleigh, N.C. In his one season, he helped the Falcons to a 19-11 record, including a 12-6 mark in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
At St. Augustine's, Valentine coached CIAA Player of the Year Allison Sikes and CIAA Rookie of the Year Umeka Benson. Both players earned CIAA All-Tournament honors, while Sikes also picked up all-region and all-state accolades in addition to being named the Heritage Sports Radio Network Division II National Player of the Year.
A Greenville, S.C., native, Valentine served as an assistant coach at Southern Wesleyan University in Central, S.C., from 2007-10. While at SWU, Valentine coached four NCCAA All-Americans and one NAIA All-American honoree. He also taught at the university as an exercise science instructor.
Prior to his arrival at Southern Wesleyan, Valentine was as an assistant coach at Hillcrest High School in Simpsonville, S.C., and also coached the South Carolina Lady Flames AAU/travel basketball team, leading the Lady Flames to the 2005 15U AAU State Championship, YBOA State Championship and the Reebok Hoops and Dreams Spring Showcase during his tenure.
A national certified Nike/SPARQ trainer, Valentine has developed some of the country's top high school, collegiate and professional basketball and football players. He continues to train Ivory Latta, a former University of North Carolina star and national collegiate player of the year who plays for the WNBA's Tulsa Shock. He also trains former UNC player Rashanda McCants who played with the WNBA's Tulsa Shock, former UNC player Kenya McBee and former Clemson standout James Mays in addition to several other NFL and college basketball players throughout the country.
Valentine runs a performance training company named Elite Speed and Strength. He is a member of the Who's Who of Executives and Professionals for Strength and Conditioning, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and the Black Coaches and Administrators Association.
Valentine earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from Southern Wesleyan University with a minor in athletic coaching.
He is married to Catherine and they reside in Washington, D.C.
Also joining the staff is Krystal Reeves-Evans who comes to the Hilltop after spending ten seasons at Gardner-Webb University including the past two as the associate head coach for the women's basketball program.
She will serve as the recruiting coordinator and focus on the Hoyas' offensive schemes.
"Krystal is an excellent recruiter, we'll complement each other well during the recruiting process," said Brown. "Her organizational skills and knowledge of the game will be to our benefit."
During her time at Gardner-Webb, the Runnin' Bulldogs improved, going from five wins in 2003-04 to a GWU program-best 28 wins in 2009-10 as well as a Big South Championship a year later.
The 2010-11 season, her first as the associate head coach, the Runnin' Bulldogs had a number of firsts winning the conference tournament and earning an NCAA Tournament berth. GWU posted a 23-11 overall record in 2010-11, tallying back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time in the program's 36-year history.
The season prior, Gardner-Webb went 28-5 overall and 15-1 in conference play to win the Big South Conference Regular Season Title, the program's first regular season conference title in its history. The Runnin' Bulldogs' 28 wins set a new record for the most victories in a single season by a GWU women's basketball team in its history and ties the most wins for a Big South Conference team in the history of the league.
Reeves-Evans came to Gardner-Webb from the University of Southern Mississippi, where she served as an administrative assistant for two years.

A graduate of Southern Miss, Reeves-Evans played for the Golden Eagles under her father, head coach Rick Reeves, from 1999 to 2002 after transferring from Liberty University in 1999.
As a freshman at Liberty during the 1998-99 season, Reeves-Evans helped the Flames to the Big South Conference Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament berth. After following her father to Southern Miss, Reeves-Evans helped lead the Golden Eagles to the WNIT in 2000.
Reeves-Evans graduated from Southern Miss in 2002 with a degree in biological sciences and an emphasis in pre-med. She was named the University of Southern Mississippi Scholar Athlete of the Year for the 2000-01 season.
She completed her MBA in the summer of 2008 at Gardner-Webb University and also served as an adjunct professor in sports management department at GWU.
Reeves-Evans and her husband, Jerton, have three daughters Braylee (3), Britton (2) and Brielle (1). They reside in Woodbridge, Va.
