December 25, 2013 - Southern Maryland, long known for producing football players has been doing the same for roundballers as of late. The Fifth Annual Waldorf Holiday Hoops Classic continues along those lines, offering observers an opportunity to enjoy both boys and girls doing their thing on the hardwood.
Held at two sites - North Point and Westlake High Schools - the Waldorf Classic starts Thursday and extends through Saturday, with games basically all day. Cost is adults $8 per day, Youth (6 to 14) $4 per day, under five being free. Seniors 65 and older pat $4 per day. On the first day of the tourney three day adult passes, allowing access to either site run $20. If you simply want the last game of each day, payment of $5 for adults is necessary.
In terms of girls action, Ballou, (DC), Fairfax (VA), Great Mills (MD), Gwynn Park (MD), Northern (MD), Old Mill (MD), Suitland (MD) and Westlake (MD) take the floor. Boys action offers Cesar Chavez (DC), Clinton Christian (MD), Douglass (MD), Gwynn Park (MD), Maret (DC), North Point (MD), Parkdale (MD) and Westlake (MD).
Given the Waldorf Classic's dual site/gender and multi-day structure, it's game schedule lengthy. Visit www.WHHClassic.com for details.
Come out and support not only Southern Maryland but DMV hoops at the WHHC. You won't be disappointed.
Player Note: Expect the likes of Jon Davis and Leroy Butts IV, class of 2015 players headed to DePaul and Rutgers, respectively, along with senior Allante Holston and others. All three received some level of interest from Georgetown.
