Travel Team Tour: TTO National 17u

Some folks downplay the secondary teams in big time travel team organizations, the squads not equipped with high school All-Americans, lacking the institutional support of 'A' groups or those considered top squads, the ones college coaches flock to see. Yet, these 'B' or some would say more normal collections of players still face what their greater celebrated brethren do, the need to get kids in schools.

Chuck Henry, head coach with Team Takeover 17u National faces this problem set, embraces it. In fact, its his preference.

After a contest at the Made Hoops DMV Live event, Henry, who has led TTO 17u for around seven seasons, revealed his feelings on that and more, including the TTO 17u National ethos - "trying to give them an opportunity to showcase their skills...it's all about the teaching and development"" - being honest with his guys, also discussing a few players, relying on multiple players, and empowering/utilizing his assistant coaches.

The interview session follows immeidately.

Below that are video and tweets, touching upon coaches and players, a truncated roster review, exclusive pics and relevant tweets.

Player Profiles

Caleb Gillus - 6'0" '25 point guard, Sidwell Friends (DC) - Said Henry of Gillius, "He's a leader. First and foremost", a true assessment of this coach and the floor guy. Gillius embraces leadership (see tweet below).

Loves to drive, is working on his shooting. Schools are sniffing

Dorian Clausell - 6'5", '25 wing, Banneker (DD) - This kid goes to one of the top academic public high schools on the East Coast, with his college list including high academic schools such as University of Chicago making sense.

Clausell is a shooter and hustle guy "that's learning how to play basketball at a high level...trying to figure his way", per Hentry. Routinely, Clausell made sure to battle for 50-50's. Has a bright future.

Liberty Fusire - 6'9", 25 center, Carroll (DC) - Long and mobile, Fuisire rebounds, bloks/defends shots and runs the floor. Is burnishing his paint scoring game.

Has improved tremendously, work that's continuing. Best basketball is ahead.

Elijah Flowers - 6'7", '24 wing, Potmac School (VA) - Definitely has tools, just needs to get stronger. He's slotted for a prep year, possibly at Brewster Academy.
