After announcing he was leaving Westwood in November, HoyaReport.comreported Smith understood his next destination would be key to a successful college career. As he put it, "It's either put up or shut up".
Weighing over 300 pounds and owning great feet and hands, plus a solid big man skill set, Smith will immediately provide the Hoyas size down low, though he must further develop his basketball conditioning to maximize impact. While redshirting, expect him to push the current Hoya 'bigs' in practice, and when available, function not only in the low, but high posts.
Welcome Mr. Smith; this is a win-win for all parties involved.
