Sinking Pirates is the Senior Day plan

March 6, 2015 - Some might assume Georgetown facing Seton Hall at Noon tomorrow is a fait accompli, of sorts. Given the Hoyas' present third place BIG EAST standing, four of five wins going into next week's BIG EAST Championship and widely assumed NCAA Tournament participation compared to the Pirate's eighth slotted standing league wide and defeats during seven of eight games, the average fan may assume that.
Georgetown head coach John Thompson III's program is not succumbing to such thought.

"It's a big game. In this conference..all year is a big game and you have to be ready to play" said Thompson today during the team's pre-game presser. "It's a big game, above and beyond the fact it's Senior Day".
Starting there, his team gives a Verizon Center goodbye to five seniors - Aaron Bowen, Mikael Hopkins, Jabril Trawick, Joshua Smith, and Tyler Adams - during the team's last BIG EAST regular season game.
As tweeted on @HoyaNation earlier, Adams will start tomorrow, a nod by Thompson to Adams' perseverance and commitment, given the fact a heart ailment discovered during 2011, his freshman year, has precluded him from playing for the team. Nevertheless Adams has been a valuable asset to the Hoyas, helping motivate and in some instances coach his teammates.
In terms of the Pirates, Thompson indicated "You have a team here with Seton Hall...That can score. They have multiple weapons, they can score in many ways. You have to work to work to stop them.
"And then they do a good job of switching up their defenses to keep you off balance. And so you can't fall into a rut offensively and become what I'll call lazy offensively".
The Hoyas best Seton Hall in most statistical categories, with the exception of three point field goal percentage, three ball defense and pulling down rebounds.
Snagging many of those boards is freshman forward Angel Delgado. Thompson said of the conference's most productive rebounder (9.8 each game) "He's been a major presence for them", one that has "had an outstanding freshman year".
For more of Thompson's take on Delgado and impact of Pirate roster instability - Seton Hall lost Jaren Sina to transfer well within the season plus the suspension of Sterling Gibbs (he looks to return tomorrow) - and rumored Pirate internal conflict, see Premium Court. Also there is his take on the whether G'Town's seniors are prepared to leave college.
