Pro City Update: 8.4.13
August 6, 2013 - And then there were two. No, it's not the number of teams standing after Nike DC Pro City's first day of playoff competition, Sunday. That pair refers to the number of Hoyas advancing to this upcoming Saturday's semifinal round.
Congrats to Aaron Bowen and David Allen for moving on.

Of course Georgetown guys playing professionally could participate Sunday, but Allen and Bowen, a sophomore walk on and senior swingman respectively, are what it is for current Blue and Grey ballers.
Following are game reports from Sunday's first round, quarterfinal action.
A Wash 68 On Point 59
Too much everything was the story for A Wash. On Point was game and plucky, yet had only six players available.
On Point was led by Ray Watson's 18 points, while Georgetown senior big guy Moses Ayegba finished with 16. The team was paced by Danny Sumner's 22 points.
Bowen and Allen suit up for A Wash, with the former leading all scorers with 23 points. Gus Gilchrist chipped in eight points.
Skills and Scrimmages 66 Higher Level 56
In one of two huge upsets Sunday, Skills and Scrimmages (fourth seeded in the Flight Division) took out Air Division's first ranked team Higher Level. The loss was HL's third straight setback.
Missing for Higher Level was the recent scoring of Bryon Allen, who over the two preceding contests averaged 25.5 ppg.
"It was tough shooting" said Allen of his outing. "It was different. Everybody can have a bad game...the only thing I could do was go hard".
He finished with 12 points, while fellow George Mason teammate Anali Okoloji scored 10. Mason graduate Will Thomas led HL, dropping 15 points.
Kelvin Bright of S&S led all scorers with 17 points, but it was the play of two bigs - Robbie Jackson and Mo Sutton - scorers of a dozen a piece, that propelled the team to victory. Both ran the floor, scored around the tin, defended and rebounded.
Premier Athletics 62 Team Takeover 60
Following the previous game, a fourth placed team (Air Division) in Premier Athletics took out a first slotted team, this time Flight Division's Team Takeover.
The ending was epic: With just 7.4 seconds remaining, Takeover's Josh Hart, a freshman at Villanova, stepped on the sideline boundary, sealing the team's fate. It's impressive he and his teammates were even in that position, being down 13 points late in the first half.
Hart's gaffe was directly preceded by Takeover's pressure inbounds defense, creating a Premier turnover at a scant 10 seconds on the clock. Five seconds before, Syracuse freshman Jerami Grant nailed a big time three pointer, pulling Takeover to within one at 60-59.
The second half saw Takeover utilize pressure defense and fast break aggression to eliminate an eight point, halftime disadvantage. At various times in the game, their half court blitzing of screens was impactful also.
Premier earned their key first half advantage primarily through the shooting of Corey Allmond; he drained open and contested three balls created by ball reversal. Allmond led all scorers with 22 points and even sank two pressure packed free throws with 24.1 seconds remaining.
His teammate Andrew 'Spongebob' Washington tallied 21 points, most scored after driving. Washington's impact was greatest early and to close the game.
Takeover saw three guys reach double figure scoring - GW senior Mo Creek and Hart finished with 17 and 12 points respectively, while Hoya junior Mikael Hopkins logged 13 points, 12 boards and an assist.
His Blue and Grey teammate, junior Jabril Trawick tallied five points, two rebounds, four dimes and a pair of swipes. Grant finished with nine points.
