Latest on Walker

Since John Thompson III got fired and former Hoya and National Basketball Association great Patrick Ewing was hired in around a two week span, things have been a rollercoaster on The Hilltop. A program like Georgetown, unaccustomed to change has experienced it in seismic proportions in rapid fashion.

With Ewing taking the reins, recruiting has been impacted, as the program's greatest player hasn't fleshed out his staff. With NCAA Division I coaches being able to get off campus and recruit starting this week, new blood has not been greatly pursued.

We all know Friday, Ewing traveled to Connecticut, attempting to re-woo Tremont Waters; the 36th ranked player by Rivals.com in 2017's class, Waters originally signed with G'Town last October, only to request a release from his letter of intent in March.

What about the other guy Georgetown inked for '17? Antwan Walker, a three star slotted athlete out of Washington, DC's HD Woodson High School has been almost overlooked by recruitniks and the Hoya Nation alike.

Why is that a mistake? First he's a talented, tough, long forward who can hit the midrange jumper, rebound, and defend the rim. Second, without him in the fold (and barring any further defections), the Hoyas presently have just seven scholarships athletes slotted for next season's squad.

Keeping Walker is clearly important.

What is his status? As reported first on Premium Court, a well placed District-Maryland-Virginia area source shared Ewing and Walker have dialogued recently, with the latter being impressed and excited after that conversation.

Does this mean Walker will without a doubt don Blue and Grey in college?

See Premium Court for that.
