Just before Witching Hour, Hoyas take court tonight

November 21, 2011 - For this past week much as been made of the Hoyas' Maui Invitational participation, and for good measure; the annual early season collegiate tournament boasts some of the top teams in the country, with this year no exception. It's Hawaiian-leg lineup includes local school, Chaminade, along with UCLA, Duke, Memphis, Tennessee, Michigan, Kansas and of course Georgetown.
The two last teams meet tonight at 11:55p. Neither G'Town (2-0) or the Jayhawks (1-1 have has commenced conference play in the BIG EAST or Big 12, respectively.

Despite a 75-65 loss to second ranked Kentucky on 11.15, not a dishonor by any means, Kansas comes into the game ranked 14th in both the AP and ESPN polls.
Georgetown, unranked, easily dispatched Savannah State and UNC-Greensboro in it's initial two games, thereby creating a situation in which tonight's contest should better answer question marks. Those query's include, amongst others: How will Georgetown's much celebrated freshman class respond to it's first taste of big time ball, in this setting who leads the team in compensating for lost scoring, can the Hoyas compete on the glass with an aggressive, big team?
That last point, rebounding, will be challenged by junior forward Thomas Robinson, who paces the Jayhawks with 11.5 caroms per contest. The Washington, D.C. native also slots second on Kansas in scoring, at 14.5 per game. Kansas enjoys a team leading 17 points a contest from senior guard Tyshawn Taylor.
Georgetown sees junior forward Hollis Thompson lead the team in scoring at 16 points per game, while a pair of seniors, forward Henry Sims (13.5) and guard Jason Clark (13) follow closely behind.
In terms of rebounds, Sims is the top Hoya at 4 per game, while both Thompson and Clark account for 2.5, themselves.
Tune into ESPN2 at 11:55 EST for the game's start. It's terrestrial radio broadcast will be handled by the intrepid Rich Chvotkin, and can be heard on ESPN 980.
For those who cannot tune into to either, real time, in-game chat will occur on our Premium Court message board.
Also there immediately are comments made by a certain Jayhawk this summer, pertaining to this contest.
Let the games begin!
