Georgetown Meets with the Media, Readies for N.C. State on Sunday

The Georgetown University men's basketball team met with the media on Saturday afternoon as the Hoyas made final preparations for a third round NCAA Tournament Midwest Regional game against North Carolina State, to be played on Sunday, March 18. Tip-off for the game is slated for 12:15 p.m. (ET). The game will be shown live on CBS, with Tim Brando and Mike Gminski calling the action and Otis Livingston on sidelines. Fans locally can tune in to ESPN 980 AM for the radio call of Rich Chvotkin.

No. 3 seed Georgetown (24-8) advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament with a 74-59 win over No. 14 seed Belmont on Friday afternoon. The Hoyas will face the 11th-seeded Wolfpack (23-12), 79-65 winners over San Diego State on Friday afternoon.

The meeting with N.C. State will be the seventh all-time between the schools, with the Wolfpack holding a 4-2 advantage in the series. Georgetown won the last game, 82-67, last year in the title game of the Charleston Classic. The Hoyas are 2-1 against the Wolfpack on neutral floors.

In Friday's win over Belmont, senior guard Jason Clark (Arlington, Va./Bishop O'Connell) scored a game-high 21 points and led three players in double figures as the Hoyas hit 61.2 percent of its field goals en route to the win.

On Saturday, Clark, senior center Henry Sims (Baltimore, Md./Mount St. Joseph) and freshman forward Otto Porter (Sikeston, Mo./Scott County Central) took the podium in the interview room, answering questions for 20 minutes, ranging in topic from Sims' development, Georgetown's season and to their next opponent, N.C. State.

"We had time last night after dinner to get - our coaches got their personnel together," Clark said. "We watched that for a little bit and today before we came over we got to watch some of their set plays and more of their personnel. (They're a) very good team. We played them last year. They have pretty much the same players on the team. They're a very athletic team. They like to get out and score in transition."

After their time on the podium, the trio met with the CBS television crew before having availability outside the locker room and then went through a 90-minute practice on the floor at Nationwide Arena.

Head Coach John Thompson III also met with the CBS television and radio crews and spent 20 minutes on the podium, with topics ranging from the matchup with the Wolfpack to Georgetown's history with big men.

"It's a difficult matchup," Thompson said of N.C. State. "They're a team where I don't think in most games we've had the size advantage. I don't think that's going to bother them at all. And you look at them and they have very distinct, very tough interior presence. But at the same time, they have very good perimeter play. So from our defensive perspective, whether we're talking man, zone, whatever the heck we're going to do, we're going to have to be very good at all parts."

The winner of Sunday's game advances to the Sweet 16 on Friday, March 23 in St. Louis, where they will play the winner of a game between No. 2 Kansas and No. 10 Purdue.
