Hoyas slotted second, Starks first

October 16, 2013 - According to the BIG EAST men's basketball preseason poll, the Georgetown Hoyas own two lofty designations; the squad is picked second, while senior guard Markel Starks received an All-BIG EAST First Team designation.
The team, coached by John Thompson III (in his 10th year at the helm) followed Marquette in the voting. G'Town garnered 70 votes, while the Golden Eagles logged 74. Following is the league, as seen by BIG EAST coaches before the 2013-2014 season starts:

Starks, a point guard and likely team captain, was one of five first team selections, including Davante Gardner, Bryce Cotton, D'Angelo Harrison, Semaj Christon of Marquette, Providence, St. John's and Xavier, respectively. Preseason Player of the Year is Creighton's Doug McDermott, while the early Rookie of the Year went to Rysheed Jordan of St. John's.
The selections were announced today, at the league's media day, held in NYC.
