Hoya alum provides chance to see GTown targets

Additionally, former G'Town player Robert Churchwell will coach Benedictine (VA). Recruitniks will be happy that the likes of Kameron Williams and Kennedy Meeks, future Ohio State and North Carolina players, respectively, and Rysheed Jordan, on of the most highly regarded guards in the East, are scheduled to suit up.
2ndAnnual MLK Hoopfest Showcase Tips Off January 21st Coolidge High School
Former Georgetown University basketball star and Comcast Sportsnet and MASN college basketball analyst Mark Tillmon's Shooting Straight Program, Inc. presents the 2nd MLK Hoopfest high school basketball showcase Monday, January 21stat Calvin Coolidge High School in Washington, D.C.
The one day high school basketball extravaganza features twelve teams in a six game format showcasing athletes from NY, NJ, Philly, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia and North Carolina. This event is a platform designed for the sole purpose to educate today's youth for tomorrow's financially responsibility and encourage youths to obtain the life skills they need to connect to opportunities to pursue their dreams and become leaders of tomorrow.
The matchups feature on the girl's side,O'Connell (VA) versus St. Gill Bernard of New Jersey. Last year's WCAC girl's runners up and nationally ranked St. John's will meet CHSAA state champion Nazareth from Brooklyn, NY. Also among the top prospect in the class of 2013 for the boys -ESPN top 100 Rysheed Jordan - leads Robert Vaux of Philly into a contest against Ohio St bound Kameron Williams and ESPN top 50 Phil Booth ofMt. St Joseph (Baltimore). Fans will see two of the Class of 2015's top prospects when Fairfax, VA Paul VI, the City Title Champions - led by guard Franklin Howard and Forward Marcus Derrickson faces Math, Civic and Sciencesof Philly. Other games feature Theodore Roosevelt versus UNC bound Kennedy Meeks of West Charlotte, and Cesar Chavez Charter versus St Benedictine of Richmond, VA.
In addition to the basketball games, on Saturday January 19th at Coolidge High School, the Shooting Straight Program has implemented an educational workshop that will develop student-athletes on the importance of financial life skills.
A special 2-3 hour financial literacy workshop gives participants a memorable learning experience while sharing practical personal finance lessons. This experiential workshop will hopefully increase retention rates and motivate students to take positive action in their financial future.
Mark Tillmon is a D.C. native and founder of the Shooting Straight Program. Tillmon excelled in academics and athletics while attending Gonzaga High School in D.C.
