DMV boasts big time high school events

December 6, 2012 - With the advent of high school basketball season, fans of hoops at that level are riled up, talking about this game, or that player. Two events in the DMV (District-Maryland-Virginia) area this weekend should have them delirious.
The National High School Hoops Festival is becoming an area institution, routinely providing fans an opportunity to see some of the best high school players in the country.

This year is no different; set at DeMatha High School (Md) and for December 8th-9th, the NHSHF will offer a chance to see such players as: Andrew Wiggins, Stephan Jiggetts (Siena signee), Malachi Alexander (Holy Cross commit), Dion Wiley, Xavier]Rathan-Mayes, Florida State signee, Dominic Woodson (Baylor recruit), Nigel Johnson (GW bound), Beejay Anya (NC State) signee, Jairus Lyles (future guy), Kennedy Meeks (UNC bound), Jamal Robinson (Niagara signee), Tim Higgins (Cornell commit), Marcus Derrickson, Sindarius Thornwell (South Carolina signee), Troy Williams (IU commit), Nate Britt (UNC signee), Zacarry Douglass (Delaware signee), Aquille Carr, and others.

On a smaller scale, but not to be undone, the VA Hoopfest is a one day event, set for December 8th at Potomac HS (Dumfries, VA). It's still chock full of talent.
Don't believe it? The following, partial listing, illustrates who will compete there: Romelo Trimble, Byron Hawkins, Leroy Butts and Anthony Cowan, along with Randy Haynes, Trey Porter and Landon Moss.
