Derrickson pops

October 27, 2013 - With Friday being Georgetown's Hoya Basketball Tip-Off, the Hoya Nation was abuzz about Blue and Grey hoops Saturday, discussing not only aspects of the event, including the dancing of men's and women's team members but which high school recruits attended. The Tip-Off, a Midnight Madness-type affair , has been very kind to recruiting for the men's program in the past.
This year is no exception, as yet another invited high school guy who attended decided to be a part of the program - enter Class of 2015 forward Marcus Derrickson, who Saturday orally committed to G'Town. (See @HoyaNation for yesterday's tweet reporting Marcus' decision)

Well before the Tip-Off, Paul VI's (VA) 6'6", 247 plus pound frontcourt performer, Paul VI's (VA)Derrickson indicated "At the Peach Jam, I weighed in as 265 (pounds)". Dietary changes, returning to the court and a weight reduction focus have facilitated the weight loss.
On the floor, Derrickson is a match up problem, given his solid shooting range out to three point land and penchant for posting around the rim. When dialed in, Marcus can also clean the glass, and is always able to make others better through the pass and penchant for making the right basketball play.
Rivals.com has affixed Derrickson a 55th ranking in the Class of 2015.
The Hoyas beat out Maryland Indiana, Temple, Villanova, North Carolina State and others, all of which continued to recruit him despite missing significant time this summer with knee tendonitis.
The Hoya Nation welcomes Derrickson. Be sure to discuss this pickup on Premium Court. More articles on him will soon follow!
