Derrickson does it

May 9, 2015 - As reported yesterday, incoming Georgetown freshman Marcus Derrickson and current Brewster Academy (NH) standout competed in the Big Lake Half Marathon today. Per his report, he can officially say 'Done'.
"The Big Lake Half Marathon was a phenomenal event" he said today via text message. At the start he "was very anxious to run the race and scared to burn out because I started fast".

The speed in which Derrickson competed was no joke.
"I started off the race with a nice pace of about 9:30 (minutes per mile)". Interestingly enough "It progressively got better throughout the race" as "Around mile 9 I decided to push myself because...I never burned out ever running and I train intensively every day".
Derrickson ultimately "gave it my all and I ended up finishing with a 8:31 minute per mile" mark.
Upon crossing the finish line, "I started stretching" shared Derrickson this evening via telephone, including "hamstrings and quads" being his main focus. He also "grabbed some water as I waited for Coach (Josh) Lee (Brewster's strength and conditioning coach) to cross the finish line".
Lee, who also owns Brewster's ACTION Sports and Physical Therapy was impressed with Marcus' performance, saying "1:51:27 was his time, which is incredible". After stretching and resting "we went to McDonalds" for a celebratory reward.
Is Derrickson currently fatigued?
"Yeah, I have no energy" he shared. "I finally got all the soreness out of me. Now I'm just tired, body is physically exhausted".
