Carter to check out Hilltop

May 3, 2017 - Per multiple social media reports, Class of 2017 swingman Nahziah Carter is scheduled to visit Georgetown this weekend. The 6’6”, 190 pound, Bishop Kearney (NY) and Albany City Rocks (Nike EYBL) performer was a former Dayton commit.

What happened to make him available?

Former Flyer head guy Archie Miller left for Indiana, precipitating Carter’s letter of intent release request, which was granted, per a Corey Evans of Rivals.com article.

That same submission noted Carter, whose uncle is international rap mogul Jay-Z, has communicated with the Hoyas “Georgia Tech, UMass, Indiana” and Boston College, with the Eagles standing as his lone offeror at the article's publishing point.

Since then G'Town has tendered a scholarship opportunity, as have a handful or so of others, including Washington and St. John's, the latter's upcoming visit being canceled per reports.

In terms of deciding upon a school, Carter was quoted as sharing “I plan to go to college this summer and prep school is an alternative just in case I don’t get the right fit but the plan is to go to college this summer”, and “I kind of want to take my time. The recruiting process is kind of tough and I don’t want to rush anything or make any bad decisions.”

What kind of player is Carter?

Evans indicated during the EYBL’s Hampton leg, carter dropped over 15 points a game, shooting north of 65% in the process. Over the course of that competition and the circuit’s Indianapolis stop, Carter is averaging 12.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.5 helpers each time out, shooting 57.5% from the field.

During last summer’s Victor Oladipo Camp, Carter displayed interesting aspects of game: He was likely the best pure one on one player at the national level event, a guy that when faced with a defender in front of him, has an assortment of penetration moves.

Long and fairly bouncy, Carter showed he can and will dunk on foes. The Camp’s namesake might have been the only player in existence better in one on one competition.
