WASHINGTON – Georgetown men’s basketball graduate transfer Rodney Pryor (Evanston, Ill./Notre Dame Prep/Robert Morris) made an impressive debut on Saturday in his first game as a Hoya, scoring 26 points in the first half and finishing with 30 in a 105-60 win over USC Upstate at Verizon Center.

It was the first win of the season, and the 10th time in 13 seasons under Head Coach John Thompson III that Georgetown won its season opener.

Behind six 3-pointers from Pryor in the first half, the Hoyas took a 68-35 lead at the break. The 68 points were the most in a half by a Georgetown team since scoring 64 in the second half of a 123-90 win over Howard in December 2000.

Pryor finished with a game-high 32 points, the most in a debut game under John Thompson III. He is the ninth player to score at least 30 points and it was the 16th 30-plus point game under Thompson.

Pryor led five players in double figures, as junior guard L.J. Peak (Gaffney, S.C./Gaffney) added 14 points, four assists and three rebounds, sophomore center Jessie Govan (Queens Village, N.Y./Wings Academy) had 11 points and six rebounds, junior guard Tre Campbell (Washington, D.C./St. John’s College HS) chipped in 10 points and three assists and junior forward Isaac Copeland (Raleigh, N.C./Ravenscroft/Brewster Academy [N.H.])added 10 points.

Georgetown is back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 12, hosting local rival Maryland as part of the Gavitt Games. Tipoff at Verizon Center is slated for 6:30 p.m. The game will be shown live on FS1, with Gus Johnson and Bill Raftery calling all of the action.
