Big showdown in Brew Town Pt. 1

March 3, 2012 - Milwaukee is known for beer and brats, but basketball will be front and center Saturday afternoon, as the Georgetown Hoyas (22-6 overall, 12-5 in BIG EAST) travel to Marquette (24-6, 13-5). The contest is each team's last regular season game.
A January 4, 73-70 comeback Hoya win is not the only subplot of the game: BIG EAST Tournament seeding is on the line, with the Hoyas securing the much desired double bye with a win - additionally G'Town is being pressed for it by USF, whom they are tied with in-conference but have a tie breaker against. If the Bulls get a win against West Virginia on Saturday and G'Town falls in Milwaukee, the Hoyas have to play another day in Madison Square Garden, point blank.

The intrigue doesn't stop there; add Marquette not suffering a in-league, home loss this season, plus the contest being Senior Day for Golden Eagles and the home team having become even more up tempo due to roster reductions, and it's clear to all this contest has all the makings will be a true battle.
