August 30, 2018 - The Hoya Nation received hopeful news yesterday, as Rivals.com designated five star, 19th ranked Class of 2019 player Will Baker continues to assess Georgetown; the 6'11", 245 pound center noted Pat Ewing's program made his final four listing.
Joining Georgetown are Texas, UCLA and Stanford.
G'Town's continued involvement with Baker is a surprise to some, with his hometown relationship with Texas (he's from Austin) and desire to enter the film industry (UCLA is based in that world's capital, L.A.) led experts like Rivals.com Recruiting Analyst Eric Bossi to express shock Will hasn't committed yet.
During an exclusive interview at this year's NBAPA Top 100 Camp, Baker expressed a growing fondness for Ewing, as well as discussed whether UCLA's proximity to Tinseltown was a driving factor. Click here for it.
What kind of player is Baker?
Big and solidly mobile, Will is a wiling and able rebounder, a guy that has also worked on attacking the tin via face up or back to the basket. Don't leave him open from mid-range, he'll make you pay. Baker's feel for the game is good, and he's willing to make winning plays.
Clint Jackson, a talented writer/analyst at TarheelIllustrated.com shared a concise evaluation of Baker's offensive talents: "Big skilled post who excels as a face up shooter, pick and pop guy. He has post moves and can score down on the block. He's really going to thrive offensively in a half court offense with his versatile skill set".
