WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's basketball team takes the floor at Verizon Center for the final time of the regular season on Monday, Feb. 27, hosting BIG EAST rival Notre Dame. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. on Senior Night as Georgetown honors two graduating seniors playing their final home game, guard Jason Clark (Arlington, Va./O'Connell) and center Henry Sims (Baltimore, Md./Mount St. Joseph).

The Hoyas, ranked No. 9 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll and No. 8 in the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Coaches' poll, enter the game with a 21-6 overall record and an 11-5 mark in the BIG EAST. The Hoyas have won three of three of their last four games and seven of the last nine overall.

The meeting with Notre Dame will be the 28th all-time between the programs, with Georgetown holding a 14-13 advantage in the head-to-head series. The Irish have won the last three, including a 78-64 decision at Verizon Center during the 2009-10 season. Georgetown is 7-5 at home against Notre Dame.

Georgetown has been led by a defense that ranks among the best in the BIG EAST in several categories, ranking second in scoring defense (58.7 points per game), fourth in field goal percentage defense (38.6%) and first in three-point field goal percentage (28.5%).

In Georgetown's 67-46 win over Villanova on Saturday, the Hoyas limited the Wildcats to 28.0 percent shooting from the field, including 24.0 percent in the second half (6-of-25). It was the fifth time this season the team held an opponent below 30 percent and the third time in league play.

Clark and Sims, who will be honored in a pre-game ceremony, have led the team consistently throughout this season. Clark, who reached the 1,000-point mark for his career earlier this season, leads the team in scoring with 14.5 points per game, is second on the team with 4.1 rebounds and third in field goal percentage (48.2%).

Sims, meanwhile, reached double figures in scoring on Saturday for the 17th time this season, finishing with 12 points and six rebounds. He is third on the team in scoring (11.3 ppg), second in rebounds (5.5 rpg) and leads the team in assists (3.41 apg) and blocked shots (1.5). He is the only player in the BiG EAST who ranks among the top-15 in the league in assists (15th) and blocked shots (8th).

Junior forward Hollis Thompson (Los Angeles, Calif./Loyola), who added 10 points, six rebounds and a tied a career-high with four assists (all in the first half), is second on the team with 13.1 points per game. Thompson is tied for second on the team in rebounding (5.5 rpg) and is second in field goal percentage (48.5%). He leads the team in three-point field goals (51) and is tops in the BIG EAST in three-point field goal percentage (45.9%, 51-of-111).

Freshman forward Otto Porter (Sikeston, Mo./Scott County Central), who made his second career start on Saturday against Villanova, scored 15 points and tied for a team-high with six rebounds in the win. He is fourth on the team in scoring with 8.8 points per game and leads the team with 6.7 rebounds.

Notre Dame enters the game with a 20-9 overall record and a 12-4 mark in the BIG EAST following a 61-58 loss at St. John's on Saturday. Sophomore guard Jerian Grant is one of three players averaging double figures in scoring, tying for the team lead with sophomore guard Eric Atkins at 12.7 points per game. That duo has combined to hit 36.5 percent of its three-pointers (88-of-241), while junior forward Jack Cooley is third on the team with 12.4 points and leads the team with 9.3 rebounds per game.
