May 12, 2017 - Multiple sources are indicating there's movement on whether former Hoya assistant coach Akbar Waheed will remain on The Hilltop, this time under new head coach Patrick Ewing.

Waheed first came to Georgetown in May of 2016, hired by former head man John Thompson III. A graduate of Gonzaga College High School (DC) and Niagara University, Waheed has coached at the latter, Boston College, as well as serving as an National Basketball Association scout with Oklahoma's Thunder.

Since Thompson was let go early this Spring, Waheed reportedly has been a presence on The Hilltop, the only former coach doing so. New head coach Patrick Ewing - also the best player in Georgetown history, one who is also a Hall of Famer for his work in the NBA - has according to sources relied heavily on Waheed's skill set since taking over.
