October 11, 2017 - This past Saturday, new Georgetown Women's Basketball head coach James Howard and staff held a clinic at the school's John Thompson, Jr. Center, a confab mixing introduction with hoops education. In a nutshell both aims were met.

Howard, a former Hoya assistant elevated to the first chair this season, discussed a number of topics, many containing themes of family, interaction, focus and possibility.

Following are some Howard quotes:

Recruiting focus: "We will reconnect with the DMV".

His local cred: "I am DMV...went to Phelps...We played Coach (Pat) Ewing in Urban Coalition".

On alumni in WNBA: "We are two for two, both are WNBA All-Stars (Rebekkah Brunson and Sugar Rodgers)

Message to recruits: "They can get the job done at Georgetown".

Assistant coach duties: "All our coaches develop players...I let them coach!"

His mooring: "I am based on family and religion".

After Howard's introduction and sessions led by assistants Andre Bolton (development) and Nikki Reid Geckeler (2-3 matchup zone), a pair of Washington Mystic bench leaders - head coach Mike Thibault and assistant Eric Thibault taught. That duo, which helped lead their WNBA franchise to that league's semifinal playoff rung, discussed some of pick and roll defense approaches.

After lunch, the Hoyas then held an open practice.
