With Georgetown revitalizing their recruiting operation and making necessary tweaks to the coaching staff to do so, local recruiting is of utmost importance Georgetown head coach Patrick Ewing has emphasized the need for a strong local presence. Ties to the DMV area, AAU coaches, high school programs, and sustainable connections to the local area are crucial factors.

Zeroing in on the wealth of local talent would help Georgetown accelerate the process of bouncing back from a dismal 7-25 campaign last year and catapulting the Hoys Georgetown back to the Big East's upper percentile. One local product the Hoyas have been in consistent pursuit of has been 6-foot-7 Class of 2024 guard/wing Bryson Tucker.

From Baltimore, Tucker enjoyed a tremendous summer in which he registered his imprint as a prolific scorer - he's ranked 7th in '24, also obviously owns a five star label. A hoops old soul in a sense, Tucker cited the late and legendary Len Bias as a former player he devours film of and patterns his game around.

Like Bias, Tucker has significant elevation on his shot. He's made his mid range and mid range pull up a livelihood. A hard attacking guard, Tucker's ball-on-a-string caliber handle is a major component in his space creation.

In the process of rapidly climbing up the rankings as a now five star recruit, Tucker has been a smooth ball handler with an adeptness for weaving through traffic and scoring amid contact. As a unique mismatch threat with his guard skill set at nearly 6-foot-8, Tucker may not be done growing in both a figurative and literal sense. He may have another growth spurt underway and his intriguing versatility aligns with all that's prioritized at the high major level today.

Of course, Georgetown has plenty of competitors vying for Tucker's services. Duke, LSU, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Illinois and a handful of others have offered the rising junior As is the case with another high profile DMV area prospect and Georgetown target in 2024 guard Darren Harris, Duke is working to gain an early upper hand; Jon Scheyer, the former Duke guard who has now replaced the recently retired and legendary Mike Krzyzewski, has already developed a relationship with Tucker. He's been in the gym multiple times to see him play.

Tucker recently brought his swagger, smarts and high release to Chicago for the Under Armour Elite 24. Tucker's extravagant open court finishing and ability to change directions and create opening for his pogo stick jumper were noteworthy aspects, as the event re-emerged following a six year sabbatical.
