June 10, 2015 - As broken on @HoyaNation and previously alluded to on our Premium Court message board, Class of 2017 guard Tyler Foster has in fact chosen Georgetown over VCU. The announcement was officially made at the Foster's suburban Baltimore home early this evening.

"I'm excited" said Foster after phoning Head Hoya John Thompson III to officially alert him of his decision. After noting he must "continue to get better", Foster said "I think I made the right choice".
In picking the Hoyas over VCU, the 6'5"-plus, now 175 pound Foster shared "Obviously it wasn't an easy decision", specifically saying of why G'Town was chosen "It is a great fit for me on and off the court. I love everything about it".
A 3.0 GPA student at Gilman (MD), one of Baltimore's most challenging high schools school-wise, Foster embraces his academics, a plus at Georgetown.
On the court he's a scorer who can get really hot from the outside, is athletic and has long arms. Tyler is capable of driving with either hand and scoring at all three levels.
Foster, who hits the circuit for Under Armour Baltimore Elite's 16u unit, paces the team in scoring (14.0 ppg) and is tied for its lead with 4.5 rebounds each time out. Tyler's scoring numbers are good for 14th best in the Under Armour Association's 16u division, while his 31 point outburst in the league's New York leg is knotted for single game high honors amongst all sophomore classification players.
Being a Class of 2017 performer, discussions from various sectors have questioned why he committed relatively early; he's not even presently at the stage where college coaches can contact him, presently his family must reach out to them.
Apparently Foster's final two schools - G'Town and VCU (which he visited last weekend) - both left him feeling both would be happy with an early choice; there was no pressure per se, but Tyler feels each school was more than comfortable with him choosing now. From a personal perspective doing so has taken some level of pressure off him.
Dayton had been in the running while other "schools tried to jump on me like Virginia Tech", shared Foster. Georgetown's BIG EAST rival Villanova had some fledgling interest.
Rivals' chief recruiting analyst Eric Bossi agrees with the suggestion Foster is ascendant, saying on our Premium Court message board after the announcement "A few good games in July and he would have blown up to regional high majors. Not a bad pull at all for the Hoyas".
Thompson et al obviously agree.
