Wahab is exploring options

College basketball is in a unique place, a space shaped by transfer trends and a global pandemic. The latter has impacted everyone in college ball, as games were cancelled, contests lost, programs thrown for a loop. Georgetown missed around three weeks of game due to COVID-19 infection for instance.

The penchant for player transfers evident in college hoops has also touched the Blue and Gray. No, we're not talking about 2019-20, a season in which ultimately four guys left. This is about the Hoyas learning today standout sophomore center Qudus Wahab has entered the transfer portal.

It is not known what drove Wahab, an obvious go-to-Hoya who had a really strong 2020-21 campaign to announce transfer plans. Doing so allows him to discuss attendance with other institutions. Georgetown could be one.

This season the 6'10", 240 pound pivot averaged 12.7 points per game on 59.1% shooting, 8.2 rebounds in 27.7 minutes, each time out for GU. Add 1.6 blocks each contest to Wahab's 2020-2021 work, all better than 5.2 ppg via 58.1% from the field, 4.3 rpg in 14.8 mpg, and just less than one block each game last season.

Over the course of 26 games this season, 25 started, Wahab finished third in the BIG EAST among rebounders.
