Upward trending Islanders on tap

November 18, 2014 - Tonight at 7p, Georgetown tips with Texas A&M - Corpus Christi at Verizon Center. Local radio duties are of course manned by Rich Chvotkin (980 AM), while Fox Sports 2 will broadcast the contest.
TAM-CC, coached by Willis Wilson is a resurgent Southland Conference opponent, one that last season finished 18-16 while going 6-23 during '12-'13. That positive 12 game differential stood as the nation's second largest.

The Islanders, 1-0 on the season after a 73-58 pasting of Our Lady of the Lake, are a mix of old and new. A senior point guard, John Jordan is just 15 dimes away from becoming TAM-CC's all time leading assist man. What's more he could become the school's statistical leader in six categories, per the school's game notes.
Sophomore forward Rashawn Thomas is a new-jack for the Islanders, one that had a stellar freshman season despite suffering a broken jaw. His availability for tonight's game is questionable, due to a hip injury.
Jordan is a first team All-Southland preseason selection. Thomas made the 2nd all-league early squad.
Georgetown also enters 1-0, after downing St. Francis (NY) of the Northeast Conference 83-62. Freshman swingman L.J. Peak paced the Hoyas with 23 points, the most by a freshman in an opener in the program's existence.
The Hoyas also received double figure scoring from two senior; swingman Jabril Trawick (11 points) and center Joshua Smith, who logged 10.
Per GU game notes, the Hoyas are 5-3 versus Southland Conference teams. This is their first time meeting such a team since '06-'07.
