Pro City Kenner Notes: Day 5

July 23, 2015 - The fifth day of DC Pro City Kenner League action is chronicled below:
Tre Kelley - 6'0", 170 lb guard, On Point - Having played in Turkey with Efes Pilsen last season, of which he noted "I loved it", averaging 18 points and eight rebounds, Kelley, a soon-to-be nine year pro is just that, a professional; he's can get buckets, find people and lead at a very high level. Last year's DC Pro City MVP scored 25 points.

His journey to professional ball has taken him from Southeast DC, to the University of South Carolina to various spots worldwide including the NBA. He's come a long way.
"It's amazing to me" said Kelley of becoming a baller known worldwide. "I'm doing something I love for a living. If I was a crying man I would be crying". Driving his success has been a "Dedication to get better and practice".
That work ethic was of course displayed at USC, a place that holds a special place in his heart.
"That probably is the best four years of my life, playing for basketball icon Dave Odom" he recalled. Odom, now retired and working with a Hawaii-based preseason college hoops event was a basketball expert according to Kelley, one who inspired a love instruction in his player as Odom and the program "prepares you to be a teacher".
Kelley on USC in general: "It's a great school...one of those schools that's on a higher level".
Raymar Watson - 6'5", 220 lb forward, Metropolitan Athletics - Rugged forward that gets into the lane and finishes. Dropped 16 points.
A former junior college standout, Watson is also a entrepreneur, one that's involved with a fledgling web-based sports entity. Watson has also partnered with the Watts Summer League and is providing a dunk and three point shooting competition.
"We tried before" noted Watson of a prior effort by his History, Entertainment and Sports Network (HESN). "Last year we wanted to have a tournament for $100,000. It didn't work out, so we scaled it back".
What's on tap is a "home run hit" as Watson put it: Between August 10-21st, coinciding with the Watt's League playoffs, HESN's Battle for the Belts will pit dunk and three point shooting contestants - 16 in each event - with the winner of each receiving a championship belt. The competition's proceedings will be recorded and aired September 11th on HESN's launch on HistoryETV.com.
Davon Usher - 6'4", 180 lb swingman, DCX - Call him 'Mr. Get Buckets', since Usher does exactly that - he scores all over the court. The current international pro dropped 17 points in short measure.
Reggie Cameron - 6'5", 220 pound junior forward, Georgetown, DCX - Hit some shots, better shooting...(see Premium Court for remainder)
Davon Douglas - 6'5", 190 lb forward, ODU, DCX - Along the way to scoring 18 points, Douglas drove, shot and finished. Can be a high level offensive player.
Jon Arledge - 6'9", 240 pound forward, DCX - Shot well and defended the rim. Scored 18 points. Should be a Pro City Kenner force.
Robert Carter - 6'9', 2300 pound forward, Maryland, Oohs and Aahs - Wasn't as dynamic as he'd been previously, but nevertheless scored 15 points. Attacked the rim and rebounded well.
Akoy Agau - 6'8", 230 pound sophomore forward, Georgetown, Oohs and Aahs - Blocked shots, ran the floor really well, passed, and even hit a three pointer in overtime. Showed he can be very effective when remaining active. Scored 13 points.
Hit a three pointer but...(see Premium Court for remainder)
