Pro City Kenner League Day 3 Games

During the 2022 Nike Pro City Kenner League's third day, guys competed, thrilling the McDonough Arena assembled crowd. Below are game reports.

Tombs 78 Hoya Blue 65

Tombs, based in large measure to the offensive aggression of Georgetown wing Brandon Murray, raced to a 34-28, first half advantage, work that continued in the back stanza, as at the 17:58 mark his and one stretched their advantage to 43-34.

Hoya and Tombs teammate Amir Spears added his input in the second; Murray finished with 23 points and a whopping 16 rebounds, both game highs with his carom total unequaled all evening long. Hoya Blue got 12 points from Gabe McCray, a former SC State wing who played professionally in Uruguay last season. Georgetown guard Jay Heath paced the team with 16 points, adding three assists in the process.

Darren McClinton All Stars 80 Clyde's 71

DMAS was led in scoring by Erick Green's 26 points six rebounds; Green, who played professionally in China last year, routinely had answers when it counted, going 11-15 from the field, 4-7 from beyond the arc. He's a pro and it showed.

Jahmir Young, a Maryland transfer added 10 points to DMAS's total, plus three assists. He only managed 4 of 14 shooting.

Clyde's got a team best 24 points from Georgetown's Qudus Wahab. His 14 rebounds was a contest best. Fellow Hoya Wayne Bristol scored eight points. Both have transferred into G'Town, the former being a return engagement.

Brains, Skills, and Guts 82 On Point 51

Howard transfer Jelani Williams simply got busy, scoring a third day '22 Kenner high of 29 points. He was hot to begin with, regaining that heat to close the contest for BSG. Teammate DJ Mitchell logged 20 points, while Williams was credited with six rebounds.

On Point was led by Jordan Riley - a Georgetown player - who dropped nine points. Maryland rookie Noah Batchelor added seven points, while Riley's Hoya classmate, Ryan Mutombo contributed six points, as did George Mason freshman wing Justyn Fernandez. The latter also excelled defensively, strapping man to man as well as recovering in scatter court situations.

PAPA 78 PAPA 76

In easily the evening's most compelling game, Higher Level raced to a first half 28-16, ending the period up only 39-35. Easy baskets after stops, as well as the energy and fast break work of Brown guard Kino Lillly (7 points, 3 assists) were central to PAPA creeping closer. Lilly created opportunities with his pace.

That momentum continued during the last 22 minutes, as PAPA earned a 51-45 lead, the clock reading 51-45.

Enter the combination of Denver Anglin and Devin Dinkins: The latter (18 points, six rebounds, five assists) equalized scoring at 54 at around the twelve minute mark, while Anglin (17 points) drove Higher Level to a 68-62 advantage, also via three ball.

Eventually trailing 76-67, PAPA then dug into their roster, unleashing Texas-Tyler guard Jordan Hairston who sunk one of his three long balls. Teammate and professional guard Andrew Washington them helped propel PAPA to victory, including scoring a layup plus an and-one shot, the last emanating from a steal and occurring with 6.9 seconds remaining.

Washington was credited with 15 points, nine rebounds, Dion Hammond, who played in
Romania last season, added 14 points.

Davonte Gaines, who stands out at George Mason, shot exceptionally well for Higher Level, logging 20 points on 6-7 three point shooting, 7-10 overall. He also snagged seven rebounds, while Hoya forward D'Ante Bass added seven points.
