Pro City Kenner Games: Quarterfinals Day 1

in the throws of it's money round, Nike DC Pro City Kenner League held Day 1 of it's Quarterfinal playoff slate.

A Wash 78 Clyde.s 75

In a huge eighth seed over Pro City Kenner's top slotted team victory, A Wash raced to a 19-12 first half lead, ending up ahead of Clyde's 34-33 at intermission.

The second half saw much of the same, though Clyde's did take a 51-49 lead with 13:21 in regulation, via a three pointer from Georgetown's Wayne Bristol (15 points).

Evidencing the back and forth nature of this game was A Wash and NBA/G League professional Naji Marshall scoring a three pointer, with Bristol responding via his own long ball, equalizing things at 60.

In such contests, late execution on a couple of plays can be the determinant, and this one is no different.

Qudus Wahab, a Georgetown pivot, led Clyde's and the game with 16 points, 13 rebounds - six being offensive. Longtime pro Jeff Allen finished with 14 points, six rebounds. Clyde's ends Pro City Kenner competition at 6-2.

A Wash (4-4/8th) and headed to Saturday's semifinal round, was led in scoring by NBA/G-League guy Andrew Wiggins who dropped 15 points. Georgetown's Bradley Ezewiro equaled him in points and pulled down a team tops seven rebounds. Marshall put up 10 points after arriving late. He and Wiggins managed five rebounds.


PAPA 85 Hoya Blue 82


Down a pair of points at halftime, PAPA led by as much as 79-71 with under three minutes to play. Hoya Blue went into full court man defense, aiding them being down just 83-81 at the 34.1, second half mark, after Georgetown's Jay Heath conversion of two free throws.

Another Heath charity strip attempt pulled HB within one just seven seconds later. Both he and Colorado swingman Quincy Allen suffered field goal misses to close the game.

Antwan Walker, of Bryant, led all scorers with 21 points for PAPA. He also grabbed six caroms. The team suits up Saturday for semifinal action.

Heath led HB through 19 points. Teammates Gabe McRay (12 points, six rebounds), a pro, in addition Quincy Allen and Tre Wood, hailing from Colorado and LIU - Brooklyn respectively, scored in double figures, the last two producing 11 points each.

Hoya Blue, Kenner's fourth slotted team, is done at 5-3. PAPA stands third, and plays again on Saturday for a trip to the finals.
