Pro City Kenner, 7.3 Pt. 1

June 4, 2016 - More on Nike DC Pro City Kenner League players yesterday follow. Expanded blurbs on Georgetown players are on Premium Court.

Chris Wright – Hoop Magic, 6’1”, 190 pound PG, international pro – One of Georgetown’s best, recent players, Wright came out distributing the ball; think Rajon Rondo in terms of his passing. Controlled the game in that manner.

“I had to get warmed up” said Wright of primarily diming early on. As the game progressed, he got more scoring minded, though still found teammates. Finished with 12 points.

Played for Italy’s Varese last year, where European hoops fans valued his work; Chris was voted best performing point guard for the 2015-16 Euro Cup season (see Facebook posting).

Going forward Wright’s continued work on hitting the open shot more consistently will propel him to even higher heights.

Isaac Copeland – Hoop Magic, 6’9”, 205 pound Junior F, Georgetown – Dropped 20 points and played solidly…(Premium Court)

Raymond Hines – Hoop Magic, 6’2”, 180 pound sophomore G, Georgetown – Walk on backcourt guy showed…(Premium Court)

Greg Malinowski – Hoop magic, 6’6”, 210 pound junior F, William and Mary – Showed he is more comfortable driving the ball, as Greg is no longer just a shooter. Scored five points.

Must be more assertive, mixing both shooting and drives.

Trey Mourning – Higher Level, 6’9”, 210 pound junior F, Georgetown - Scored 29 points and put on a Pro City Kenner show, the question being…(Premium Court)

Reggie Cameron – Higher Level, 6’8”, 220 pound senior F, Georgetown – Got on track, scoring 15 points…(Premium Court).

Andre Fox - Higher Level, 6’3”, 175 pound sophomore G, High Point – Combo guard can score and drive. Is a tough customer. He battles.

Needs to get more consistent from distance.

Raymar Watson – On Point, 6’6”, 225 pound F – Having transitioned into sports promotion, months ago Watson was not in shape for Pro City Kenner play. He is now, having lost significant weight, and is competing at a high rate. Watson said earlier he was planning on getting into shape for Kenner League action, and did so. Hats off to him.

On the court Watson (16 points) showed he’s still a strong driver, good finisher and tough defender, including battling G’Town center Jessie Govan in the post.

With increased outside shooting, Watson’s game will open up even more.

Jessie Govan – Clydes, 6’10”, 260 pound sophomore C, Georgetown – Scored 12 points on a mostly...(Premium Court)

Jevon Moore – Clydes, 6’2”, 210 pound G – Moore, a recent graduate of CIAA champion Virginia State, Moore is mulling international opportunities, including those in China. It makes sense, as he’s a strong guard that penetrates, defends and battles. Always has, back to his days at National Christian (MD).

Would have had more than 12 points, but his jumper wasn’t falling. Has become a better shooter, and continues that work.
