Pro City Kenner 7.29

August 3, 2016 - Following is a rundown of players in Nike DC Pro City Kenner League play from Friday, 7.29. As usual, see Premium Court for expanded discussion of Georgetown players.

Jonathan Mulmore – Hoop Magic, 6’3”, 175 pound junior guard, Georgetown - Scored 18 points, including hitting two jumpers. Looks like he’s getting more comfortable…(Premium Court)

Isaac Copeland – Used a jump step well, scoring 22 points in the process…(Premium Court).

Ra’mond Hines – DCX, 6’2”, 175 pound junior guard, Georgetown – Walk on battled in limited minutes. Finished with two points.

Bradley Hayes – DCX, 7’0”, 260 pound senior center, Georgetown – Was strong around the rim. Had nine points…(Premium Court).

Mike Morsell – DCX, 6’5”, 200 pound junior guard, Towson – Again showed he’s tracking well going into the season, as Morsell shot and battled on the boards. Scored 11 points.

Driving and dropping would be a good addition to his game.

Harvey Thomas – Tombs, 6’9”, 200 pound forward – A former Georgetown student-athlete, the athletic, long Thomas hasn’t played much organized ball since being released from prison May of 2015. Nevertheless he rebounds, blocks shots and finished like a beat was never missed (scored nine points). As a competitor exclaimed to him afterward “You still have those ups”.

Thomas must become a better shooter – midrange and long distance – while also developing his slashing/driving skills. Nevertheless given Harvey’s tools, he could play for pay somewhere, if working on his game becomes a priority.

That could become reality, as the gregarious Thomas shared “I love the game”, something that’s obvious.

Marcus Derrickson – Tombs, 6’8”, 240 pound sophomore forward, Georgetown – After starting sluggishly, Derrickson picked it up in the second half, eventually scoring 25 points…(Premium Court).

Jagan Mosely – Tombs, 6’3”, 200 pound freshman guard, Georgetown – Contributed 11 points, mostly by driving…(Premium Court)

Rodney Pryor – Tombs, 6’5”, 205 pound graduate forward, Georgetown – By this time on thing in this year’s Kenner League is obvious; Rodney Pryor gets buckets, at the rim, from midrange, on the break, beyond the arc. Friday was no different, as he dropped 29 points.

Going forward…(Premium Court)

George Muresan – Tombs, 6’8”, 200 pound freshman forward, Georgetown – A Hoya walk on, Muresan didn’t score. Has shown a willingness to mix it up.

Wally Judge – Premier Athletics, 6’10”, 235 pound forward, international pro – Judge started strong around the rim, before trailing off prior to intermission. To his credit he bounced back in the second half. Scored 15 points.

At times seemed tired – though Judge denied that assertion – but having not played at this level since February surely took a little wind out of sails. What brought about such a lay off?

“I hurt my left meniscus” shared the skilled and talented Judge, who played at Kansas State and Rutgers. That injury, in addition to a right knee bone bruise, ended a basketball odyssey last season that included stops in Argentina and Hungary.

Being out has motivated Judge, who noted “A lot of people have written me off”. Don’t do that.

Lavonte Sanders – Premier Athletics, 6’3” 195 pound junior swingman, St. Mary’s College – Was aggressive attacking the rim. Dropped eight points.

Must work on and trust his jumper more greatly.

Tyc Snow – Premier Athletics, 5’8”, 155 pound point guard, international pro – Scored 18 points, while also defending and operating his team’s controls. Was very impactful.

Spent last year in Canada. May return there, rejoin the D League, or hit another professional opportunity.
