Campbell has long known...
Paul White - 6'8, 215 pound freshman forward, Georgetown, Clyde's - Scored nine points, mostly from mid-range, where he is distinguishing himself.
Had trouble...
Tyler Hubbard - 6'1", 185 pound junior guard, Loyola, Oohs and Aahs - Hubbard scored 15 points, mostly from beyond the arch. Canned a number of long balls, including spot ups.
Has to strengthen his driving and finishing.
Richaud Pack - 6'2", 190 pound senior point guard, Maryland, Oohs and Aaahs - Again spearheaded a win for his team, this time finishing with 23 points. Was on the controls. Looks like he has the chops to be an excellent tutor for freshman Terp Romelo Trimble.
Needs to pick up his verbal leadership, which will serve Maryland well this season. Not a super-athlete, Pack will have to make sure he hits the weights/trains, thereby making himself more explosive.
Robert Carter - 6'8", 235 pound junior forward, Maryland, Oohs and Aahs - Carter finished with a quiet 14 points. Showed he can shoot, post and finish.
Carter has to focus on playing hard all the time.
Marcus Thornton - 6'3", 175 pound senior guard, William and Mary, Oohs and Aaahs - A scorer, Thornton dropped 14 points on drives and shots. Marcus gets buckets, plain and simple.
Thornton needs to improve his defensive focus. Offensively, fewer dribbles on moves will better suit him for eventual pro ball.
Patricio Garino - 6'6", 215 pound junior forward, George Washington, Oohs and Aaahs - Again impacted the game in multiple ways, shooting, passing, driving and defending. Did a great job curtailing White of Georgetown and Clyde's.
Looks like the Garino should commit himself to the weight room, thereby increasing the amount of force he plays with.
Paul Jorgensen - 6'2", 180 pound freshman guard, GW, Clyde's - Jorgensen puts the ball up. Scored 19 points, mostly on pull ups and spot ups, but also drove.
Has to finish better, as well as find open teammates more frequently.
Mikael Hopkins - 6'8", 230 pound senior forward, Georgetown, Team Takeover - Played extremely physically on drives and post up. Dropped 26 points.
Over several years has shown tendency to...
Jabril Trawick - 6'5", 220 pound senior swingman, Georgetown, Team Takeover - Did his thing; drove strong to the basket, battled down low and defended. Logged 21 points.
Jabril must continue...
D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera - 6'3", 205 pound junior guard, Georgetown, A. Wash - 'DSR' did what he does; shoot and drive. He's a proven scorer. Rebounded well.
Is incorporating more passing into his game...
Trey Mourning - 6'8", 210 pound freshman forward, Georgetown, A. Wash - Received irregular playing time. Battled and defended.
Mourning attempted several...
Pro Destination Update:
Tre Kelley - 5'11", 175 pound guard, Team Takeover - During Sunday, Kelley, a D.C. native and former University of South Carolina standout proved he could get to any spot he wanted to on the court, whether perimeter or paint based. Is crafty and confident with it.
Given his size, Kelley would do well drive to pass more, instead of dishing when his shot isn't there. He also needs to commit to defense more intently.
A veteran of European basketball, the last two years Kelley played in the NBA's D-League. Noted he presently has "around four options for NBA (preseason) camps".
Doesn't expect to play overseas if that doesn't work out, as Kelly said "I've been to Europe. From a little kid, I wanted that dream...to play in the NBA". As such, he'll likely stick to the D-League if sticking with a NBA team doesn't happen.
