Higher Level 77 DCX 76
After coming back down 15 to go up five late in the ball game, DCX surrendered a loss to Higher level via Bryon Allen's NBA range three at the buzzer. The loss extinguishes DCX's playoff hopes; the team needed a win Friday and Saturday to be in contention.
"It felt good" said Allen of the shot, and denied it was a heave. Allen finished with 17 points for Higher Level.
"He's our nemesis" shared said Lang Reese, DCX's coach, of Allen, who has been a thorn in his side several summers now.
Tristan Spurlock led Higher Level with 26 points, while Will Thomas dropped 16 points and [db]Akil Mitchell/db] chipped in 13.
GW freshman Darian Bryant led DCX with 19 points. A pair of collegiate seniors logged 15 points; Northern Colorado's Corey Spence and G'Town's Aaron Bowen. The Hoyas' Bradley Hayes finished with 14 points.
(Demonte Ojinnaka - 6'3", 190 pound swingman, Cloud County CC, DCX - Ojinnaka, a graduate of Blake High School (MD), acquitted himself well, slashing to the cup offensively and competing defensively.
Missed five games due to injury last season at Blake, which sort of derailed his recruitment. Nevertheless the likes of Mount St. Mary's, Arkansas State and Southern Miss all showed interest.
He's a full qualifier, headed to Cloud County strictly for basketball reason. While there must burnish his mid-range/stop and pop game, while also becoming more than a straight line, explosive driver).
On Point 80 A. Wash 76
On Point, with no bench, held on to defeat a stacked A. Wash crew. Led by Tre Kelley's 19 points, On Point also got 15 points from Arinze Onuaku, added to James Gist's 12 points.
A. Wash was down double digits in the first half, but got on track in the second; they just couldn't get over that hump, in certain measure due to Kelley's control of tempo and leadership.
Obie Oleka finished with 14 points. G'Town's D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera accounted for 12 points, all three pointers. Folarin Campbell had 10 points, and Isaiah Swann chipped in 17.
Pro Destination Updates:
Bryon Allen - 6'3", 210 pound guard - Is headed to Poland's Lublin franchise.
Is an emotional player the competes.
Will Thomas - 6'8", 230 pound forward - Spain's Malaga is his destination this upcoming season.
Lefty post player just grinds.
Folarin Campbell - 6'4", 200 pound guard - Was in Italy last year, and is undecided as of now. Turkey could be in play.
In college was a shooter. Now tries to get to the rim often.
Isaiah Swann - 6'3", 215 pound guard - Competed for Germany's Braunschweig last season. Indicated offers in "Spain, Germany, Franc and Italy" have been received.
Started off the game slow, but came on strong. Has been "getting into the swing of things" for about two weeks now in terms of his training.
Jumper wasn't as wet early. Still can get buckets from all over the court. Will also provide the dramatic time as well.
Brian Leggett - 6'6", 225 pound forward - Played in the APBL for Nova's Hawks last season. Is evaluating options, which include pro work elsewhere and the APBL.
"It's a grind" said Leggett of maintaining that pro ball dream. "I don't know what I'm going to do yet".
Leggett does a bit of everything, from banging down low to hitting mid-range jumpers. Is a rugged player that makes winning plays.
Schedule Change
All games for Saturday have been moved up two hours. The first game starts at 1:30P.
