In search of multiple 2022-2023 season players - five definitely wont be there, one likely to join them and a seventh possibly could be gone - many spots are open for Georgetown head coach Pat Ewing and his staff to recruit.

Center/frontcout is a position of need for the Hoyas who must bolster that position corps. Enter Emmanuel 'Manny' Bates, who is in the transfer portal.

Bates spent '20-21 on the pine injured, having suffered shoulder damage during the first minute of his then NC State Wolfpack's first game. A prior shoulder injury shelved him for 2018-19, this time going down before the season started, that August.

A current senior with two more years of college eligibility remaining, when he' available Bates has proven himself one of the nation's best frontcourt defenders, leading the ACC in blocked shots during two seasons (2019-2021), work that equated to 2.9 and 2.7 bpg, respectively. He also is the Wolfpack's single season field goal percentage record holder at 64.1%.

Bates over three years and 54 games has averaged 6.67 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.7 blocks, each time out.

Before last season, Bates flirted with leaving Raleigh, but decided to return. This time around, he's gone, and Georgetown is in the mix.
