Puerto Rico's Tip-Off jumps off today
November 21, 2013 - The Georgetown men's basketball program is on the island of Puerto Rico for that island's Tip-Off tournament today, facing the Colonial Athletic Association's Northeastern Huskies. The game jumps at 12:30p (EST), with ESPNU broadcasting it. Rich Chvotkin's radio call can be heard on 570 AM.
G'Town walks into Coliseo Coliseum 1-1 on the season, while Northeastern stands 1-2, having lost to Boston University and Stony Brook. The Hoyas previously fell to Oregon.
Leading the Hoyas in scoring is Markel Starks at 19.5 points and five assists per game. Following him at 15.5. points per game is Joshua Smith, on 63.2% shooting. D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera closely trails them with 15 points each contest.
Northeastern is paced by Scott Eatherton's 14 points and 10 caroms per game. Four others join him in double figures.
The victor today will face the winner of Charlotte and Kansas State tomorrow at 230p. That contest's loser takes whoever fails in Georgetown's contest with Northeastern, also tomorrow but at 12p.
Long Beach State, Michigan, VCU and Florida State round out the field, with a champion being crowned Sunday. (Click here for a bracket)
