Butler brings good news to Hilltop

November 18, 2013 - Georgetown's women's basketball squad issued bad news today, with the imminent transfer of freshman forward Shayla Cooper, but also received something positive, as freshman center Natalie Butler was recognized by the BIG EAST Conference.

What did she receive? BIG EAST Rookie of the Week honors were garnered.

A 6'5" performer from Northern Virginia, Butler dropped 16.3 points on 56.3% shooting and grabbed 13.7 rebounds over the first three games of G'Town's 1-2 season. For the record, those numbers came in the form of a trio of double-doubles (two digit points and rebounds).

Her award was the season's first for the conference. The last time a Hoya was tabbed Rookie of the Week was Dominique Vitalis in mid February of last season.

Butler and her mates take the court again this Saturday, when Princeton comes to town. Tip-Off is 2p.

Can't make the game. Check it out on Hoyavision, or via GUHoyas.com's live statistic feed.
