Hoya Women get nationally seen dates
click here.September 12, 2013 - This year's Georgetown women's basketball team, coached by Keith Brown will play in front of a National audience four times during the 2013-2014 season according to its schedule, released yesterday. For the complete slate,
According to a press release, 12 of its upcoming foes saw postseason action last year, including eight NCAA Tournament teams.
The regular season starts November 8th at McDonough Arena, when the Hoyas host Richmond, and ends March 4th, in Chicago versus DePaul.
In between are non-conference tilts with California, George Washington and Penn State, home dates on 11.17.13, 12.3 and 12.8, respectively.
On the road, G'Town travels to Anchorage, Alaska for the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaskan Shootout 11.25 and 11.26. December 20th and 22nd sees the Hoyas play in San Juan's Puerto Rico Classic. Less than a week later (12.28), Georgetown travels to SEC power Florida.
A newly constituted BIG EAST provides a bevy of challenges: Action starts New Years Day when Creighton comes to town, ending at DePaul. Three of the TV dates are in-conference (at St. John's on 1.26.14, 2.23's trip to Villanova and the season culminating venture to DePaul). The Hoyas' hosting of Cal is also televised.
FoxSports1 has committed to broadcasting 13 regular season conference games, while CBS Sports Network will televise two. This year's BIG EAST Championship, slated for March 10-11 and held at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill, will have its semifinal and final rounds beamed into homes.
Of particular interest is the home-home, BIG EAST structure, in which the ten member schools play each other twice. That traditional construction is sure to create interest and rivalries.
