This and That: Marquette
January 6, 2011 - Wednesday night was a stirring evening for Verizon Center's 11,000+ fans, as the Georgetown Hoyas erased a 17 point, second half deficit before downing Marquette 73-70. The Hoyas are now 13-1 overall and 3-0 in the BIG EAST, owners of an 11 game winning streak. Marquette stands 13-1, 1-1. The Golden Eagles came into the contest ranked 20th, G'Town ninth.
Senior guard Jason Clark finished with a game high 26 points, plus five rebounds. Junior swingman Hollis Thompson dropped in 16 points, while senior center Henry Sims contributed 13 points, five rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals.
Marquette was led by senior guard Darius Johnson-Odom]'s 18 points. Following closely was senior forward [db]Jae Crowder[/d]'s 17 points, eight rebounds and five swipes. Sophomore center [db]Davante Gardner chipped in 11 points, four rebounds and three steals.
