May 22, 2013May 22, 2013 - With the National Basketball Association holding its Draft Lottery last night, the league's 30 teams know where the stand in the Draft's two rounds. Now, the real fun starts; franchises will continue reviewing players, assessing organizational needs and devising ways to meet them through player selection, signing, or trades.
One collegiate player sure to be selected early is Georgetown sophomore Otto Porter, who has renounced his eligibility and thereby committed to being chosen. A do-everything type player that relishes making the right basketball play, Otto is unselfish as well. His statline of 16.2 points, 7.5 rebounds , 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals prove it all, as do the lengthy awards he garnered, such as BIG EAST Player of the Year, first team All-American and Wooden Award finalist.
So, just what team will tab Porter on June 27th? What selection will the Missouri-native be chosen?
If not equipped with a crystal ball, one can't say with 100% accuracy at this point; teams and agents have long been known to embrace subterfuge in an effort to acquire the player/players desired.
That said, talk in the Hoya Nation is rife with speculation regarding the 6'8", 198 pound, 20 year old Porter.
On the 'world-wide interweb', outlets list him consistently as a top five selection, though again, it's pure guessing:
Draft Express.com has him going to Phoenix with the fifth pick.
HoopsWorld.com speculates Otto will go first to Cleveland.
SportsIllustrated.com suggests Porter will be snapped up third, heading to Washington.
HoopsHype.com at this point simply rates Porter as this draft class' third best prospect.
We discuss these and other prognostications on our Premium Court message board, in addition to break down the player Porter will likely be professionally.
