April 29, 2012

April 29, 2012 - Since losing Terri Williams-Flournoy to Auburn, a move announced April 2nd, the Georgetown women's basketball program has been in a state of flux. Such is common when there is no head coach present.

A Washington Post report and rumors have it that a decision has been, or may soon be finalized; former assistant coach Keith Brown will be tapped for the position.

Possible hires have previously been brandied about, including Central Florida coach Joi Williams and James Madison head guy Kenny Brooks. Williams, according to a recruiting source received an interview, while Brooks, though considered, did not. It is unknown whether Howard head coach Nikki Reid Geckeler, another person believed to be in the running, actually interviewed.

Interestingly enough, the same source believed Keith Brown and Adrian Walters, another Williams-Flournoy assistant, followed her to Auburn, and very early May had weeks ago been set as a decision deadline.

Brown was Williams-Flournoy's chief recruiter, and is widely credited for luring star guard Sugar Rodgers to The Hilltop, amongst other players. A hard nosed coach on the bench, Brown has been at G'Town for five years.
