Bruin hoops notes
Did you know that Arizona has gone to the NCAA tournament for 23 years running? That is a phenomenal feat and great testimony for Lute Olson and his Wildcat program. Because of what is at stake for Arizona they will be sky high for the contest this afternoon.
The Bruins will also be very motivated to get a W against Arizona and make it seven in a row because with a victory UCLA will be one game closer to a high seed in the tournament. The Bruins have great respect for Arizona and their great tradition.
Speaking of the NCAA tournament, UCLA coach Ben Howland thinks that the Pac 10 will still get at least six invites, at least that is his hope.
"I think you have to take a look at how tough our league is," Howland said. "But any team will be hard pressed to get in without at least a 9-9 record in conference.
"Every win in the Pac 10 is a hard fought win," Howland said. "In some leagues there is a lot of difference from top to bottom.
"There is so much parity in the Pac 10 that between one to nine anyone can win and have."
