Deal sealers for Peak
July 3, 2013 - When we reported in May L.J. Peak was considering Georgetown, many assumed it was unlikely the 6'5", 200 pound wingman would ever choose the Hoyas. Than last week on the Premium Court message board and later via article, it was shared Peak - who had narrowed his college choices to three with the Hoyas being one - would announce his decision yesterday. A significant number again assumed he wouldn't pick G'Town, particularly with L.J. not having visited Georgetown as of yet.
That chatter was proven wrong, as in a dramatic display at a Gaffney High School ceremony, Peak in fact did decide Georgetown would be his college. Previously he and Gaffney assistant coach Phillip McHam lauded the work of Hoya assistant Kevin Broadus for building a strong relationship with the tough, aggressive player. A conversation last night with McHam and members of L.J.'s family shed more light on what drew him to The Hilltop.
