Bulldogs are bowl eligible
STARKVILLE, Miss., - Mississippi State punched their ticket into the postseason for the first time since 2007 with a 29-24 victory over UAB for homecoming.

The Bulldogs offense struggled at time and a usually stingy defense showed vulnerability but was able to do just enough to secure the homecoming win in front of 56,423.
"We just earned ourselves one more game," said MSU head coach Dan Mullen.
MSU (6-2) began the game without five starters offensively but still managed 378 yards including 271 yards on the ground.
"We made some plays that we needed to make on offense," Mullen said. "We've still got to do a better job of throwing the football. They were really crowding the line of scrimmage. We hit some shots down the field and we missed some shots down the field."
Redshirt freshman LaDarius Perkins filled in admirably for injured starter Vick Ballard. Perkins rushed for a career-high 131 yards on 18 attempts and one touchdown and also scored on a 4-yard option pass from Chris Relf.
